A new version of Pretty Good Solitaire Mac Edition is now available.
The new version is a collection of 101 solitaire games for Mac OS X. It

In addition, version 2.0 contains a new feature called Climb Mode. In Climb
Mode, you begin with game #1 and play the games in game number order
for a cumulative score. Climb Mode has its own separate statistics that
can be submitted to the web site. To turn Climb Mode on or off, use the
Climb Mode icon on the toolbar on the main screen (or do it from the

This 101 game Mac version is the next step in our plan to completely
rewrite Pretty Good Solitaire. This version is a Mac port of the next
generation Pretty Good Solitaire - for Windows, this is currently seen in
the Goodsol Solitaire 101 game at https://www.goodsol.com/101 .
The next step is to bring this new rewrite up to 200 games and add some
more features. The 200 game Mac Edition will be a free update to all
registered users of the Mac Edition. We have already started work on the
200 game version and it should take far less time than this 101 game
As for the Windows Pretty Good Solitaire, the rewrite is still obviously a
long way from the 710 games in the current Pretty Good Solitaire. The
current Pretty Good Solitaire will continue to be updated, in fact we have
a 720 or 725 or 730 game version planned for release this summer (or
winter for our Australian/New Zealand/South Africa users).
REQUESTS FOR GAMES
The games that will be in the 200 game version are determined already,
but if you have a favorite game that you would like to see in the Mac
version, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with the game name. I'll
see if I can get it into the 300 game version. Also, I'm looking for new
game requests for the 720/725/730 game Windows version.
MAC VERSION TIPS AND TRICKS
Here's a few hints and tips when playing the Mac version:
Note that Climb Mode is on when you first start version 2.0. Climb Mode is
a special way of playing where you start with game #1 and play the game
numbers in sequence for a cumulative score. In Climb Mode, you play
another game using the Next Game function. The New Game function and
icon is unavailable. Climb Mode can be turned off via the toolbar on the
main screen (where you see the names of the games), or from the
Preferences menu on the main screen. When Climb Mode is off, the New
Game function will once again be available.
Version 2.0 has 5 different card sizes. You can change card sizes from
the Preferences menu in a game. The Automatic setting is best, since it
selects the largest possible card size that fits in the current window.
Version 2.0 uses new high scores lists. In addition to the standard wins
and losses list, there is a high score list for the cumulative score in Climb
Mode, and a list for the fastest game time. This means that each game
has 3 different lists where you can try to get the best score. You can
see the high scores for the Mac Edition at
https://scores.goodsol.com/topscores/scores/pgs/listing_gse.html , or just
click on the View High Scores button in the Mac Edition.
Version 2.0 can be played entirely with the keyboard. Go to the
Preferences menu, select Preferences, in the General area check the box
that says "Display Keyboard Shortcuts". Each pile will be labeled with a
key you can press to move the top card in that pile.
I hope the Mac users like the new version. And Windows users - there
will be a new card set (the Gemstone Card Set) in the next newsletter,
plus version 12.2 is coming this summer!
