This is the first time Pretty Good MahJongg has ever won this award.
Pretty Good Solitaire won in 1999, 2001, and 2006.
Featured Game - MahJongg Stones
-------------------------------
MahJongg Stones is a game played with MahJongg tiles in Pretty Good
MahJongg. For this game there are 72 tiles of 6 different colors and 6
different symbols (there are 2 tiles of each different color and symbol).
The game is played on a 12x8 grid of 96 spaces. At the start of the game,
4 tiles are automatically placed at the four corners and two tiles are placed
near the middle. These 6 initial tiles are chosen to represent all of the 6
colors and 6 symbols.
The remaining tiles are placed in the stock (wall) at the top of the screen,
where the next tile to be played is displayed face up.
The face up tile in the stock is placed on an empty space in the layout,
according to the following rules:
1) Tiles must be placed next to at least one matching tile, and must match
all adjacent tiles (left, right, top, or bottom, but not diagonal). A matching
tile is one that has either the same color or the same symbol (or both).
2) If the tile is placed adjacent to only one other tile, it must match that
tile (color, symbol, or both).
3) If the tile is placed next to two other tiles, it must match one by color
and the other by symbol.
4) If the tile is placed next to three other tiles, it has to match all three, at
least one by color and another by symbol. The third match can be either
by color or symbol.
5) If the tile is placed next to four other tiles (is completely surrounded), it
must match two of them by color and the other two by symbol.
The game is won when all tiles are legally placed within the layout, leaving
the stock empty. Note that there are 96 spaces but only 72 tiles, so the
layout will not be completely filled; however, there are enough tiles that
placing tiles with multiple neighbors is essential.
Since the rules to MahJongg Stones are fairly restrictive, Pretty Good
MahJongg also contains 5 other variations of MahJongg Stones, each of
which has somewhat easier and less restrictive rules (or the playing field is
smaller).
MahJongg Stones is one of the 55 solitaire/puzzle games in Pretty Good
MahJongg, which can be downloaded from
