MAC VERSION TIPS AND TRICKS
Here's a few hints and tips when playing the Mac version (note that all of these
apply to the Windows version as well):
To get a hint for how to match a tile, just right click on the tile. To get a hint for
any match, just right click in an empty area.
If your mouse does not have a right mouse button, note that holding down the
control key and clicking is the same as a right click.
The number of available matches in a tile matching game is given in the statusbar
at the bottom of the screen. Try to make moves that keep this number as high as
possible, because it is when it goes to zero that you lose.
If you go to the Preferences menu, select Game, and check the box "Color Blocked
Tiles", the game will shade all tiles that are blocked so that you can easily see
which tiles are available for pairing.
You can undo back to any part of a tile matching game by selecting Multiple Undo
from the Action menu.
You can change the tile set and tile size from the Preferences menu. There are
five tile sizes. Setting the tile size to Automatic will always choose the largest
possible size that will fit in the current window.
To maximize the size of the game window, click on the green plus oval in the upper
left corner of the window.
If you click on the Climb Mode icon on the main screen, you will be in Climb Mode,
where you play the games in game number sequence starting with game #1 and
you build a cumulative score. There are separate high scores on the web site for
Climb Mode.
On the main screen, to change the view go to the Preferences menu, select View
(or simply right click on the main screen games area). You can then select All
Games, Tile Matching, Solitaire Games, or other different lists of games.
Featured Game - MahJongg Gaps
-----------------------------
MahJongg Gaps is a solitaire game in Pretty Good MahJongg. It is very similar to
the solitaire card game Gaps (or Montana) in Pretty Good Solitaire, but is played
with MahJongg tiles instead of playing cards.
There are 84 tiles. They are dealt out into 6 rows of 15 tiles each, leaving 6 places
empty. The object is to put each row in order, beginning with a dragon tile, then a
group of tiles 1-9 all of the same suit, then either 4 season tiles in order or 4 flower
tiles in order.
To play, you move tiles by filling in spaces (gaps) by moving the next highest
ranking tile next to the tile to the left of the space. For example, if you have a
Five of craks and then a space, you can move the Six of craks next to it.
When no more moves are possible, click the shuffle indicator on the left to shuffle.
All of the tiles that are not in sequence starting from the dragon in the leftmost
position of the row will be picked up, shuffled, and dealt out again. Two shuffles
are allowed in regular MahJongg Gaps. Five shuffles are allowed in the game
Simple Gaps.
MahJongg Gaps is one of the solitaire games in Pretty Good MahJongg for Windows
at http://www.goodmj.com/download.html and the new Pretty Good MahJongg for
Mac at http://www.goodmj.com/mac/download.html
